Close The Gap

Enablesus Team
September 14, 2021

Consumers in Denmark demand transparent sustainability information, but companies struggle to provide it.

‘Close the Gap‘ highlights the space between Danish consumer preferences for sustainability information on products and companies and what information Danish companies find is important to communicate. Special focus of this report is on how both consumers and companies use IT within this Busienss-2-Consumer (B2C) relationship, and how Small and Medium Sized (SMEs) companies address this relationship since they are not required by law to report on their sustainability.

Here are four of the fourteen insights found in this report:

  • 7 of 10 consumers search for additional information on products and companies while they are purchasing.
  • 9 of 10 consumers use websites that combine information when searching for information on products and companies.
  • 5 of 10 SMEs are sharing their sustainability information with customers and investors.
  • 6 of 10 SMEs want a sustainability reporting software that requires less resource use and strengthens the customer bond.

This report is based on surveys taken for both consumers and SMEs in Denmark, in 2018 and 2021, conducted in cooperation with GH Sustainability. In the spirit of transparency, we at enablesus want to share the insights from these surveys and our hard work at enablesus, which has also led to the full beta version of our enablesus app (found here).
